Day 2
What will I see in Cairo? You will explore the new Grand Egyptian Museum, the largest archaeological museum in the world, and the Alabaster Mosque, which sits on the summit of the citadel of Saldin’s courtyard. Guests will be accompanied by your dedicated cruise manager and a professional Egyptologist.
Day 3
Your tour takes you to the ancient capital of Memphis and the enormous statue of Ramses II, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Great Sphinx. The Great Pyramid of Giza is the last remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

How will I get to Luxor to start the Nile Cruise? AmaWaterways will take care of your intra-air flights, roundtrip from Cairo to Luxor. All transfers are included. The cost is about $500 USD.

Guests will fly to Luxor after visiting Coptic Cairo in the morning. Luxor (ancient Thebes) was the capital of the New Kingdom of Upper Egypt. This evening, you will enjoy a Captain’s Welcome Cocktail.
What is included on the ship? All meals and wine/beer are included with lunch and dinner. Each guest will have a lovely, appointed stateroom as well. The ships each have a heated pool on the Sun Deck, a Main Restaurant, a fitness room, a massage room, and a nail salon.

What will I see on Day 5 through 10 on the Nile River? Get your camera ready for an unforgettable adventure. Each day is filled with UNESCO heritage locations, pyramids, and temples.
Day 5
Your cruise manager will lead the group to the Valley of the Kings, King Tut’s tomb, the Colossi of Memnon, and more. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and be ready to climb some stairs during your cruise.

Day 6
As you sail towards Aswan, the ship will stop at Edfu, Egypt’s second-largest temple and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Temple of Horus was built in the Ptolemaic Kingdom somewhere between 237 and 57 BC. Other temples built during this period also include the Temple of Kom Ombo, Philae Temple, and Dendera Temple, which you will see in the next few days.

Day 7
On day 7, you will be in Aswan. You will enjoy a free morning to relax on the ship or explore the city. In the afternoon, take a felucca and sail around Elephantine Island. There are two options with additional fees that you can book on this day. First, there is High Tea at the Old Cataract Hotel, a historic British colonial-era hotel located on the Nile River. The hotel’s guests have included Winston Churchill, Jimmy Carter, and Princess Diana. Agatha Christie also set portions of her novel, Death on the Nile, at this hotel.
A highly recommended excursion is a visit to Abu Simbel. AmaWaterways will again arrange your intra-air flights to this ancient temple complex located in southern Egypt. The temple was built during the 13th century BC, during the reign of Ramesses II. The temple complex includes the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari. Nefertari was the first wife of Ramesses the Great and one of the most famous Egyptian queens.
Day 8
Day 8 is very busy with two temples and a visit to a Nubian village. Guests will visit the Great Temple of Kom Ombo, a double temple dedicated to two sets of gods. One half is dedicated to the crocodile God, Sobek. The northern area is dedicated to the Falcon God, Haroeris.
You will also visit the Philae Temple, known for its hieroglyphs. The temple was originally located on the island of Philae but was moved due to flooding after the construction of the Aswan Dam to its current location.

Day 9
On day 9, you will sail back to Luxor. This day includes a tour of the Temple of Karnak (dedicated to a triad of gods and a major place of worship), Luxor Temple (dedicated to the god Amun and built about 1400 BC), and the Luxor Market. The Luxor Market has everything imaginable. It’s a place to pick up a souvenir if you don’t mind haggling! Prices will be 10x the value of the item, so be aware. Some love the market and others hate it!

Day 10
Today, you will venture to Dendera to see the best-preserved antiquity site in Egypt, the Temple of Hathor. The Temple of Hathor is the dominant feature of the Dendera complex. The temple was built during the Ptolemaic Dynasty, which was during the Greek rule in Egypt. Depictions of Cleopatra VI and Cleopatra VII (the Cleopatra that we know) appear on the temple walls.

Day 11
On day 11, you will leave the ship and fly back to Cairo. Don’t worry! AmaWaterways will handle your air tickets, luggage, and transfers. Once you are checked into your hotel, enjoy lunch at the Abdeen Palace, where the President of Egypt lives and works.
Afterwards, you can explore Cairo’s Coptic Quarter to end your journey. Return to your hotel and begin packing for your flight home in the morning.

Day 12
This is the end of your Nile River and Cairo cruise tour unless you have booked a post-land extension in Dubai, UAE, or Alexandria, Egypt.
